Start Date: Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Due Date: Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Length: Tweets-up to 140 characters; Blog Posts-150-200 words, 30sec-1-min

Format: None. Be creative!

Assignment: One of the goals of this course is to think critically (and creatively) about the world around us, specifically slums. You are to write tweets and blog posts responding either to class readings/texts or classroom discussion, and your fellow classmates’ tweets and blog posts.

Your Task:

1.     to create a twitter (twitter.com) and a blog (tumblr.com) account

a.     create new twitter and blog accounts for this class

b.     follow your classmates’ twitters and blogs on your accounts

2.     to begin tweeting!

a.     you are to write 1 original tweet and 1 tweet responding to a classmate’s tweet per week (besides the week of Spring Break)

b.     by the end of the semester, you should have tweeted 24 times

                                               i.     once a week has past you cannot make up for those tweets

3.     to begin blogging!

a.     you are to post 6 blog entries

                                               i.     you may write or post videos

                                             ii.     3 of your posts are to be in response to class discussion/readings/texts

1.     DUE: February 8, March 8, April 12

                                            iii.     3 of your posts are to be in response to classmates’ posts

1.     DUE: February 10, March 10, April 14

 

I will be tweeting and blogging as well, but responding to my tweets and blog posts will not count towards your total.

Remember: Your tweets and blog posts will be public domain. So keep this in mind if you decide to post any personal information. If this is a concern, be sure to make your account private (if you are unsure how to do this, ask me) but be sure to allow your classmates to follow you.
